The album cover is inspired by manga and Japanese 1980s aesthetics, as the album itself is a City Pop solo album by the fictional Japanese female artist Umiko. Umiko is portrayed as a top idol and recording artist in Japan during the 1980s, and the album is presented with the backstory of being a vintage record produced and released in the late 1980s.
The album explores the idea of people being compared to fish in the ocean, caught in fishing nets, confined in aquariums, displayed in grocery stores, sealed in cans, and ultimately ending up in the stomachs of each and every one of us.
